Aesthetic Slenderizing

Aesthetic Slenderizing, also known as enamel reproximation, or IPR, is where the doctor recontours some of the teeth to make them slightly narrower. The process itself is the gentle removal of a tiny amount of the outer tooth surface, called enamel, generally between where the teeth touch. The purpose of Aesthetic Slenderizing is to acquire more space for the teeth to allow alignment.

Aesthetic Slenderizing contributes to the long-term stability of results after patients are out of aligners or retainers. When teeth fit together comfortably and securely, they are less likely to shift after treatment.

At the end of treatment, the doctor uses Incisal Dressing techniques to smooth the top edge of the teeth. This gives a more polished and aesthetically pleasing appearance to the smile.
